A pair of 13-14 year olds earned Swimmer of the Week honors -- Jessie Bricker and Cameron Morey.
Jessie won both of her races with personal best times that are also All-Star cut times. In what was supposed to be a close race against her Wakefield Chapel opponent, Jessie easily won free by 1.20 seconds, swimming a 29.88, which is under last year's All-Star cut by 0.15. She then dominated fly, sneaking 0.13 under last year's cut with a time of 32.35. Jessie knocked 0.23 seconds off her previous personal best for free, and 0.43 seconds off her fly personal best.
Swimming like a teenager possessed, Cameron posted two amazing swims -- ripping huge chunks of time off his personal best to win two very tight races. In the freestyle, Cameron was seeded third behind two Wahoos, but his 29.14 was 0.38 seconds better than his previous best, and he won the race by 0.21 seconds and 0.36 seconds over the two Wakefield Chapel runners-up.
Then, in fly, Cameron was seeded second but took first over his Wahoo opponent by a scant 0.04 seconds, knocking 0.57 off his previous personal best.
Congratulations to Jessie and Cameron!
