Four Gator Relay Records Smacked Down

Hall of Fame pitcher Waite Hoyt is credited with saying, "It's great to be young and a Yankee." True.  But MVP swimmers would say, "It's great to be young and a Gator!"

Four team records -- all from this decade -- went down at All-Stars last night, including some ridiculous time drops:
  • Boys 8&U 100M Medley: 1:30.35.  Swum by Matthew Makin (back), Alexander North (breaststroke), Tyler Swartz (fly), and George Schulte (free).  They broke their own mark previously set by the same foursome with a time of 1:34.66 on 7/9/15.  That means these guys have knocked a jaw dropping 9.27 seconds off the team record that was set in 2012.  That is NOT a typo -- 9.27 seconds!
  • Boys 11-12 100M Medley: 1:04.97. Swum by Andrei Zaitsev (back), TJ Heck (breaststroke), Andrew Baker (fly), and Clark Bayer (free).  This knocks 1.49 off the mark previously set by Collin Sundsted, Sean Jansen, Cole Miller, and Nick Dupuis with a time of 1:06.46 on 6/22/13.
  • Boys 11-12 100M Free: 56.93.  Swum by Andrew Baker, TJ Heck, Andrei Zaitsev, and Clark Bayer.  They broke the mark previously held by Jansen, Sundsted, Jack Brunton, and Dupuis by 0.47, which was a time of 57.40 on 7/10/12.
  • Girls 15-18 200M Free :1:55.81. Swum by Jessie Bricker, Parker Fulghum, Elaina Phalen, and Cassidy Bayer.  That knocked 1.25 of the mark previously set by Sara Bertram, Jessie Bricker, Anna Fracasso, and Jessica Metter with a time of 1:57.06 on 7/16/14.
Congratulations record-setters!
